Kansas City Events 2015
August 27-29, 2015–I blew into Kansas City with my teacher 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch to do a series of programs. On Thursday evening, Tao led “The Eternal Energy of Yoga”–a master yoga class at Mark Blanchard’s Yoga Kansas City. During the two-hour workshop, she explored the potential of the body to review, heal, and revitalize through yoga asanas and her knowledge of energy. Students received a treat of her one-of-a-kind vinyasas, including her “tango flow.” On Friday morning, Tao appeared on Fox 4 Kansas City with Nick Vasosand Kim Byrnes to talk about her KC visit and new autobiography. Watch it here.
On Friday evening, a packed audience was enthralled by Tao’s life in “The Tao Experience: Conversations with a Modern Spiritual Master” at Unity Temple on the Plaza that I moderated. People were on the edge of their seats listening to Tao’s fantastical journey, from marching with Mahatma Gandhi and helping Jews escape the Nazis during World War II to her stories on Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Bob Hope.
The next morning, Tao and I shared “The Gandhi Effect: Transform Yourself and the World Around You”–a special workshop focused on living truth and personal transformation incorporating Power Living tools and using Tao as an aspirational example. I shared my signature blend of interactive call-and-response elements, including The Power Living Pledge. We debuted the workshop to a standing room only audience at the Newark Peace Education Summit in 2011 which headlined his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Kansas City participants were able to preorder Tao’s long-awaited autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through The Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master, which came out on September 17, 2015. Check it out and be inspired to craft a Tao-like life.
Thank you to Gretchen Robinson for making these Kansas City events happen and Connie for taking so many of these wonderful photos! Also many thanks to Matt Wasko for his videography services.
